New York Medical Alliance
The New York Medical Alliance (NYMA), a 600-physician
association, provides all health services for The North Bronx
Healthcare Network (Bronx Network) through a professional services
contract. The Bronx Network, which is under the umbrella of NYC’s
Health and Hospital Corporation (Bronx Network/HHC), is comprised of
two hospitals,
Jacobi Medical
Center and North Central Bronx Hospital.
IHC was engaged by NYMA to assist with bringing about
long-term financial stability through direct management and a
combination of (re)negotiation and restructuring of NYMA operations.
IHC has assisted NYMA with conducting an initial assessment
and supporting negotiations with Bronx Network/HHC. We helped NYMA
secure $2MM in additional funding for 2006 and receive a one-time
accelerated payment of $1MM to support OB/GYN. Based on this initial,
highly successful collaboration, IHC is now assisting with creating a
permanent financial solution through the provision of the following
services to NYMA.
-
Negotiation of a
one-time adjustment to the 2006 contract with the Bronx Network and
Bronx Network/HHC to reduce the current cash loss; and,
-
Development and
implementation of a business strategy that returns NYMA to
profitability—through a combination internal operations improvement
(productivity enhancements and cost reductions) and external funding
via (re)negotiation of a realistic contract with Bronx Network/HHC.
