Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), a 134-bed specialty teaching hospital, provides treatment to individuals suffering from
musculoskeletal conditions. Founded in 1863, HSS has been recognized for its
excellent medical care in The Best Hospitals in America, The Best
in Medicine, and U.S. News & World Report's annual
ranking of America's Best Hospitals.
Hospital for Special Surgery retained
IHC to review and assess the registration, patient flow, and
information system usage for its Department of Rehabilitation. Our
recommendations resulted in reduced wait times for patient
appointments and a significant increase in productivity.
IHC was further engaged by HSS to analyze the feasibility of
establishing an off-site pain management center. This engagement involved
market and financial analyses as well as evaluating the legal
implications of developing and launching the center. IHC's
feasibility analysis and planning led to the implementation of the new
pain management site, in addition to the improvement of through-put
and an increase in volume at the main location.
Most recently, IHC assisted HSS in exploring international
opportunities. Specifically, we helped to define and test
business opportunities in the United Kingdom for HSS to leverage its
considerable expertise in the area of hip replacement surgery.
This project resulted in the development of a clinical consulting
arrangement between HSS and a UK client. |
