Danbury Internal
Medicine Associates (DIMA) is a 9-physician multi-specialty group
practice located in Danbury, Connecticut. DIMA provides services
in the areas of cardiology, gastroenterology, internal medicine and oncology.
DIMA has engaged
IHC's services to manage several projects over the years.
Having recently
lost their Billing Director and
experiencing a sharp increase in accounts receivable, DIMA retained
IHC to provide interim management services. During the
engagement, IHC employed its accounts receivable specialists and
systems to rigorously manage all outstanding accounts.
Additionally, we streamlined the billing process and improved monthly
financial reporting.
IHC developed
policies and procedures for all areas of the practice, administrative
as well as workflow. This information was disseminated and
reviewed with each staff member. Additionally, IHC recruited a
permanent replacement for the Billing Director. As a result of
these efforts, the practice decreased its receivable by $600,000, and employee morale improved.
The client then
retained IHC to provide a new focus on the structure of the business
office. Due to the changing dynamic of healthcare reimbursement,
IHC planned and implemented a new workflow and management hierarchy
within the business office and at practice locations as they relate to
billing responsibilities. This involved increased financial
rigor and the creation of standardized cash flow processes and
reporting.
In addition, a new physician was preparing
to assume the role of managing physician. IHC assisted with the identification and implementation of solutions
to ensure the smooth transition to new physician management. Throughout this assignment, IHC staff provided day-to-day management to the
practice, serving as Executive Director, and successfully recruited a permanent
candidate to fill this role. |
