Bert Orlov, Senior Vice President Bert Orlov has devoted over 15 years to consulting in the health care
industry. Since joining IHC in 2003, Mr. Orlov has led numerous projects
for physician practices (private and academic), hospitals and medical/dental
schools. Specific projects include:
Primary Care Merger: Mr. Orlov is currently managing the creation of a merged practice among 16 physicians, presently organized in 6 distinct entities. Goals include increased ancillary revenues, better physician time utilization and economies of scale. Launch is targeted for Fall, 2006. Orthopedic Practice: Restructured operations, with focus on billings/collections, recovering over $80K in old AR and improving collection rates by 2 percentage points, valued at approximately $250K. Currently, in process of creating mergers with several other providers for both strategic and economic gains. Hospital System/Radiology Practice: Supporting negotiations for long-term, exclusive contract, with efforts including valuation of hospital business, effectiveness of billings/collections and selection and implementation of new system to improve financial performance. 10-Surgeon Orthopedic Practice: Comprehensive organizational restructuring, with improved decision-making and implementation of physician productivity standards. Operational improvements included creation of a centralized call center, on-site office management and accelerated charge capture. Results: 18% growth in median MD compensation and recruitment of 2-3 new MDs, without additional expenses. Faculty Practice of 200 MDs: Restructuring of finance operation, in context of university policy and contractual requirements with public hospital provider. Additional support in departmental reviews, strategic cost reductions, and contract negotiations. Functioned as interim financial management for client. Dental School: Evaluated financial and operational feasibility of free-standing clinic with dual mission of education and patient care. In addition, Mr. Orlov led IHC's first major website project. Prior to joining IHC, Mr. Orlov worked for 7 years with APM Management Consultants, leading a wide range of strategy and operational projects for hospitals and health systems, physician networks, academic medical centers and allied health services firms. Thereafter, Mr. Orlov was Director of Operations at the Healthcare Group of Computer Sciences Corporation (Fortune 200). In 2002, he started-up and ran an Internet firm, specializing in the use of multi-feature websites for marketing and customer service for healthcare clients.
