Arthritis Associates of CT & NY is a 4-provider rheumatology practice
based in Danbury, Connecticut and serving patients in three locations in
New York and Connecticut.
This client initially engaged IHC to perform a full assessment to
confront operational issues related to the practice's rapid growth.
Our recommendations included space development, development of a cost
allocation methodology for clinical research, consideration of hiring
a mid-level provider, a computerized scheduling template, and
functional job descriptions and standardized performance evaluations
for staff.
IHC was later retained to perform a comprehensive space analysis, taking
recent growth and patient volume trends into account. Based upon
the analysis findings, IHC provided recommendations on improving space
utilization in order to increase
physician productivity and profitability. The practice
subsequently acquired additional space,
successfully incorporating IHC's suggestions.
Simultaneously, IHC performed a study on the
feasibility of hiring a mid-level provider to handle increased patient
volume. Our analysis showed that the physicians would be best
served, from a productivity standpoint, by a Physician's Assistant
(PA). IHC assisted with defining the PA's responsibilities and
integrating the position into the practice.
Arthritis Associates recently engaged IHC to perform a
“quick assessment” of the A/R
process to review a significant increase in A/R.
Upon completion of the assessment,
IHC carried out aggressive follow-up to counter the trend of
increasing A/R. In addition, our firm provided interim management and
successfully recruited a highly-qualified new practice administrator.
Finally, IHC transitioned out of the practice by transferring our
knowledge and the improvement initiatives underway to the new manager. |
